Area: Policy and Research (Forming)

Mission

Government and regulatory work where AI touches Muslim communities, and the research that supports it, including standards for what may call itself an Islamic AI assistant.

Status

Forming. The area is looking for its two co-leads. Until both seats are confirmed it stays listed as forming; nothing else waits on it, and joining now is how the area gets its people.

Workstreams

The projects that were proposed at launch continue inside this area, each with the same charter and the same deliverable it had before:

• Policy — IASER’s policy work on AI as it touches Muslim communities; the charter is deliberately open, and defining it is the workstream’s first task.
• Standards for Islamic AI — a published, versioned, testable standard for what may credibly be claimed as an Islamic AI assistant.

Each workstream has its own named owner within the area.

Open seats

Two co-leads, in complementary seats. Neither is confirmed yet.

• Domain lead — owns the substance: what the area is for, and whether what it produces is any good.
• Program lead — runs the machine: meeting cadence, progress notes, recruiting, unblocking.

Seats are filled from the people who put themselves forward. If you can lead, nominate yourself.

Joining

Choose your areas in the portal. If you ranked the seven groups when they launched, you have already been placed in the area your first choice now sits inside — you can keep it, change it, or add another.
