Mission
Work out what an IASER policy group should be — and then be it. This group launches as forming: its deliverable is deliberately undefined, and defining it is the group’s first task, worked through by the confirmed co-leads with the founder.
Deliverable
The group’s own charter: a defined, finishable policy deliverable that the co-leads and the founder settle together — after which this document is replaced by the real thing.
The option space to work through, not a set of recommendations — policy here means changing laws and government action:
- Reactive — policy briefs and submissions when regulation touches Muslim communities (EU AI Act guidance, consultation responses), along the lines of the FFTN amicus brief.
- Proactive — a policy agenda built from IASER’s five principles, where the IASER charter already takes positions (autonomous weapons, surveillance).
- Convening — an annual policy convening rather than a standing output.
In scope
- Working through the option space with the founder and settling the group’s actual charter.
Out of scope
- Producing policy outputs before the deliverable is defined. A forming group that starts publishing has skipped its own first task.
Duration, timeline, and milestones
One milestone, then a real charter with its own.
T₀ = the chartering date (co-leads confirmed). Offsets firm up at the first milestone review.
