Working Group Charter: Non-profit AI Acceleration

Last updated 31 July 2026

Group name

Non-profit AI Acceleration

Mission

Transform how Muslim non-profits use AI: document what already works, embed IASER members to make it work in more organizations, and turn the lessons into an open-source platform any non-profit can run on.

Deliverable

Three stages, each building on the last:

  1. Case studies — a published collection on iaser.ai: 8–12 Muslim non-profits that have successfully implemented AI, each interviewed and written up.
  2. Embed program — a pilot placing IASER members inside non-profits to help them optimize their use of AI.
  3. Platform — the lessons from the embeds extracted into an AI-first non-profit logistics platform, open source.

In scope

  • Identifying candidate organizations and conducting the interviews.
  • Writing and publishing the case studies on iaser.ai.
  • IASER’s own operations as an early case study (the dispatch pipeline, the agentic development of iaser.ai).
  • The cross-case findings: a synthesis of what adoption actually looks like, which shapes the embed program.
  • The embed pilot: matching IASER members to host non-profits, and the hands-on work of optimizing each host’s use of AI.
  • Extracting what the embeds learn into the open-source AI-first logistics platform for non-profits.

Out of scope

  • A commercial services business. The embeds are a volunteer pilot and the platform is open source — nothing in this group is sold.
  • Organizational consulting beyond AI. Embeds help their hosts use AI well; they are not general management consultants.

Duration, timeline, and milestones

Document, embed, build: publish the case studies, use their findings to design the embed pilot, run the embeds in a handful of organizations, and extract what they learn into the open-source platform.

T₀ = the chartering date (co-leads confirmed). Offsets firm up at the first milestone review.

Resources needed

  • Introductions to candidate organizations from the IASER network — case-study subjects first, embed hosts later.
  • From IASER: the publishing home on iaser.ai and editorial support.
  • Volunteer time is the core resource, shifting shape by stage: interviewers and writers, then embedded members, then engineers for the platform.
  • Modest hosting and inference costs once the platform stage begins.

Audience

Leaders and boards of Muslim non-profits weighing AI adoption, who find the collection on iaser.ai; the host organizations the embeds serve directly; and — through the open-source platform — non-profits anywhere.

How we work

The case studies publish on iaser.ai; the platform lives in a new public repo under github.com/iaser-ai when its stage begins. Meeting cadence set by the co-leads at chartering.
